I don't know why I should want a child. I don't know what I would do with it, and I don't want to spend my money and time on it. I suppose it's something you either have or don't and I don't. I wonder if, in the past, many felt like me, but they were forced to have children because of peer pressure. As that peer pressure disappears, fewer and fewer people will have children.

(I don't buy the doomerist "oh look at the planet we're leaving them" religion)

As humans, our culture and personal beliefs guide how we interpret things in our lives.

Depending on your views, the same childrearing experience can be noble and beautiful, or senseless and ugly.

It seems to be a relatively new development that theres cultural support for interpreting childrearing as horrible.

Kids are a lot of work but I'll say that of my multiple middle aged siblings, the only one with regrets is the one who chose to have no kids.

Better to regret not having kids than to regret having them.

If you cant live your best life without kids, generally, I dont think having kids will be better for anyone involved.

      Have a little faith

I’ll have some faith when the people around me stop acting like irresponsible pricks: Climate change denial Refusal to address gun violence Blatant racism sexism and xenophobia Wildly unequal application of justice based on wealth and power PFAS all over in our food supply chain

I’d go on but if you need to be told you can’t hear it.
