We specialise in Applied AI, Data Engineering, and Product Development. We offer our expertise through our services - Launch, Amplify, Catalyse, and Control.
We’re an outcome-focused agency and don’t believe in the headcount model. We start each engagement with what we call a Sprint Zero. This is a fixed-price endeavour that gets you an outcome—be it a technical audit, product roadmap, PLG strategy, etc. We have skin in the game and get paid only when we deliver what we say we can do.
If you’re a tech founder and are facing challenges with digital product development, aren't happy with the pace of delivery, or feel disconnected with what’s being done, reach out. We’re here to help.

Résumé/CV: https://granot.io (goes to LI)
Email: LinkedIn should be fine. If you search for it my email is also there.
I'm an engineer turned marketer, former devrel and VP Marketing.
I've spent a while in consulting, and considering (as in: still contemplating) joining a build again. Looking to join (as a co-founder or early founding team) companies that:
1. are working on something that that makes a real impact in the physical world
2. are working on something that is highly technical (not traditional B2B SaaS or B2C)
I'm very good at making early-stage companies look like Series B companies, and making sure they say the right things when talking to the people they sell stuff to.
I'd like to contribute as a product manager, or take on any other role where I can leverage my zero to one skill set and founder experience. I'd be a good partner for a non-technical person who is building a venture on their own and wants a solid ally by their side.

I am a physicist with lots of software experience in many domains, including scientific computing, distributed systems, finance & trading, machine learning, and power grid infrastructure.
I maintain several free and open-source software packages, including Cloud Haskell and science-focused packages: https://github.com/LaurentRDC
I have experience as a scientific software engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab, and quantitative research at a systematic proprietary trading firm specialized in North American power markets. I have also tried starting my own startup in the cleantech space (https://powerweave.io/), which ultimately ran out of runway -- still a valuable experience!
I am interested in many things, including reconnecting with my Physics education and research background -- ideally looking for a role tackling open-ended questions which involves high-performance and/or scientific computing, physics, engineering, etc.
Otherwise, climate technologies, national defense, and software correctness are also interesting. But really, I'm interested in being intellectually stimulated, so don't hesitate to reach out!
Personal website and blog: https://laurentrdc.xyz
I have spent the last few years developing software for quantitative trading (self-employed). I'm seeking a change — an opportunity to work on a team and create real value for customers again.
I have a track record of delivering results quickly and taking ownership of the projects I’m tasked with. Also worth mentioning, I welcome the opportunity to work with tech outside of my resume. I work well in unfamiliar territory so typically have no problem hitting the ground running.
If you think I might be a good fit for your team/project please don't hesitate to reach out.

For the last few years, I've been working on a self-checkout product similar to Mashgin that quickly identifies the items people place on a platform. I've really enjoyed work that involves stereo cameras and lidar, 3D scanning, surface reconstruction, and geometry more generally. I also get a lot of satisfaction from building libraries and other dev tools that make some of the more math-heavy tasks easier for non-experts. For more of a flavor of the kinds of work I especially enjoy, take a look at this article: https://andrews.wiki/spherical-mesh.
I've also been a manager and a tech lead, and I try very hard to establish priorities for my team that are simultaneously good for the product and good for the people who work towards them.
I'm currently looking into robotics companies, but anything that involves perception is welcome.
Curiosity, what do you mean by "Southern Pennsylvania"?
I am from Pennsylvania, attended Penn State, and I have lived in many different towns throughout the state including south-central ones. I've befriended yinzers and yousers. But I have never heard "Southern Pennsylvania" before.
My mind boggles. Is this some variation on "Little Washington"? Is this a Philadelphian way to simplify "Southeastern" and to therefore ignore, "SEPTA" notwithstanding, the hundreds of miles west of Philly? Are you near Chambersburg? Is this some way to describe commuting suburbs into northern Maryland? Is this some play on the Mason-Dixon line and you are actually in Maryland?
Compare https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regions_of_Pennsylvania
FWIW, if you'd said "Northern Pennsylvania" it wouldn't prompt similar boggling. I go north of I-80 only when westbound and pulling off for gas. ;)

With total 20 years of experience as a Software Developer with top companies like Amazon and Oracle, I have versatile experience to help you with all the needs of software development.
If you need a flexible (or eager) person who could learn new stuff and wear any hat that you may need him to, to make your company move forward, I am your guy.
I have worked with 3 different startups in the last 4 years and helped them launch or sell to their biggest customer (as a customer success engineer)
I specialise in helping early-stage startups demonstrate their products and create MVPs. I can also engage with your customers to identify and address their biggest pain points technically.
I understand that budget constraints can be a concern for many organisations. If you're looking for cost-effective solutions, please feel free to reach out. I'm here to help in any way I can without breaking the bank.
I invite you to connect with me for a brief conversation. Let’s explore how we can work together and create valuable solutions for your company.
I'm a seasoned web development expert with over 11 years of experience helping companies take their products from concept to market delivery. Over the past five years, I have been exclusively working remotely. Before that, I worked onsite in San Francisco and Berlin, collaborating with highly successful companies (one recently acquired for $7.1b).
My strengths are in front-end, UX, product development, but I also know my way around a back-end codebase. I have led multiple front-end teams and have also independently developed many products from scratch.

I am a full stack software developer with six years of experience delivering major features for ML applications in the ITSM industry. As part of a small engineering team at my last role, I was expected to exercise full ownership of the various features I was working on, from design all the way to implementation and maintenance. In addition, I was also recruited to be a member of the company's ML research team, where I gained the ability to quickly adopt and learn new tech, frameworks, and libraries in order to stay on the cutting-edge of AI technology. I have worked on everything from brand new greenfield projects to decade old legacy software and have made it a personal philosophy to never leave a codebase worse than I found it.
I am looking for either a general full-stack or ML-focused developer role.
I'm good at this sort of nitpicky work, spotting and thinking about edge cases. I like getting things exactly right, even though that obviously isn't always possible due to various constraints. I've been kind of wondering if I should get into embedded development; I find it appealing when things are low-level or similarly constrained. I've beaten Microcorruption. :) (The original levels, I haven't played the new ones.)
I'm also quite interested in unusual or obscure data formats, and working on Truffle Debugger and its associated libraries certainly involved a bunch of having to figure undocumented formats and interfaces. :) I put down above what languages I've worked substantially in but I'd say I'm a generalist and will figure out whatever you give me (I knew approximately no Javascript, Typescript, or Solidity when I started working at Consensys).
I'm a mathematician by background and in my spare time, so after the Truffle Debugger project was shut down I took some time off to focus on my mathematical projects. But now I'm looking for work again! If you need someone like me, I'm available for hire!

I am a data engineer and a broadly skilled generalist senior developer - and in the past, a bioinformatician.
Bio summary: After a graduating with a maths degree in 2014 and an early career role in finance, I found my path to data engineering in bioinformatics in 2016, initially as a full stack developer in a research institute and then taking on increasingly data focused work. I worked in life sciences for many years, until in 2023 I joined a healthcare startup, which for an exciting year and a half was a great opportunity to experiment with 'modern practice' like Databricks and integrating LLMs. Looking for new opportunities to engage in meaningful work.
From my bioinformatics and data engineer experience, I'm good at interfacing with researchers and turning ideas and prototypes into working products: developing data flow workflows, evaluating performance of models, providing interfaces and entry points for clients, and more.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of contributing to significant projects in academic, commercial, and non-profit settings. If my profile or any of the technologies listed resonate with you, feel free to reach out via email!

Hey my name is Matt.
I've done front end for years and years, I've done a bit of everything, I know everyone's hyped about React now but I really loved working with native Web Components and the Lit library, I'd love a chance to do that again. I've also been wanting to get back into fullstack dev - I used to sling around a fair amount of PHP+MySQL, mostly for WordPress purposes back in the day, and it'd be fun to slide into a position that would allow me to brush up on those skills.
Mostly, I just want to do cool work with a cool team of people. If you've got something along those lines on offer, I'd love to hear from you!

Developer who has a passion for helping the world and others, through technology (or sometimes no-tech). At my day job, I'm passionate about helping sure we build the right thing, in the right way, by people who are happy and engaged. In the open source world, I have my own programming language, Derw. I have experience as an electronics engineer, an IT professional, and now I have added technical writing to my skills.Something I have learned is that good documentation is a massive force multiplier. It allows others to up-skill quickly. By building a knowledge base for the support team I reduced call times by 40%. By incorporating the most frequently asked questions of customers into the documentation I was able to reduce support calls by 60%. By collaborating with devs, QA and support we found how to increased system performance by 42x.
You need a Technical Writer. You have developers that have trained extensively to talk to computers often in multiple languages. And it is hard enough to write documentation for other developers. Asking them to create documentation talking to users, system administrators, DevOps and management are even more dialects because they speak in their own jargon, and it costs a lot of their very expensive time.
I know technology, hardware, software, firmware and more. In tech, medical, aerospace, automotive and IT industries. I can do the translating for developers so they can concentrate on making the hard stuff.
I also know user experience (UX) I can guide you to make better user interfaces and keep you from making those mistakes that cripple many products.
I build software that doesn't suck. I'm a strong believer in spending a bit more time to create quality software that's genuinely user-friendly and intuitive. In my next role, I'll help build software that makes life better for our users.
I'm a full-stack software engineer and a generalist. I launched my side-project Citadel here on Hacker News at the beginning of last year to great fanfare, and it now has 1k+ stars on GitHub. Previously, I launched a React Native mobile app that offered pet parents 0% bridge financing loans for vet care in just four months, offering folks the ability to afford necessary vet care for the first time.I've worked on static, server-rendered, and SPA websites, built React Native mobile apps, deployed APIs using Elixir, Python, and Typescript (Node.js + Deno), and recently I've been tinkering with desktop applications using Tauri + Rust.

About me:
Im a full stack developer with over 9 years in the industry. I'm passionate about building and shipping things. Im results driven and independent. I've worked in large companies like Oracle, but I don't thrive in large, buroratic heavy companies. After worked on some personal proyects and fully releasing one of them, I want to focus on startups where there's a faster peace and bigger impact. More interested in products that use AI, as I've been working with them lately. Personally enjoy more working in the UI side of things, but I'm polivalent and can work in any part of the stack. Feel free to reach out and have a chat!
Recent technical write-up and open-source project I made that reached #1 on HackerNews: https://ptx2.net/posts/unbricking-a-bike-with-a-raspberry-pi
Some things I've designed/built/launched/maintained professionally: high-traffic web frontend/backends, realtime interactive graphics apps, data visualizations, computer vision apps, firmware, reverse engineering, video/image processing, apis, api integrations (payments/social/data), distributed systems, linux sysadmin, refactoring/maintaining legacy systems, managing small engineering teams, remote work, customer facing work.
Some areas of interest: the outdoors, health and fitness, art, music, environment, games, human computer interaction, product design, ui/ux, embedded/iot devices, privacy, security, networking, optimization, unusual companies/products, web, linux.
Looking for interesting software engineer or tech co-founder/director/advisor opportunities!
I just finished three years of work at a learning startup called Pivot Interactives, which Discovery Education acquired. While working for Pivot Interactives, I was a full-stack web developer implementing features from the design phase to deployment. I created easy-to-use and accessible tools for teachers and students to supplement high-school-level science labs. This included integrations with learning platforms, custom WYSIWYG editor components, auto-grading assignments, and student testing systems.
Before Pivot Interactives, I was a senior software development engineer at Corning Inc, creating hardware/software that quality controls consumer display glass in factories worldwide. I also wrote tools for scientists to interface with custom-made hardware and commercially available equipment. (DAQs, Motor Controllers, Liquid Crystal polarizers, etc.)
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

I'm a CTO, expert engineer, and data professional interested in team-building, consulting and architecting data pipelines. At Edmunds.com, I worked on a fairly successful ad-tech product and my team bootstrapped a data pipeline using Spark, Databricks, and microservices built with Java, Python, and Scala.
At ATTN:, I re-built an ETL Kubernetes stack, including data loaders and extractors that handle >10,000 API payload extractions daily. I created SOPs for managing data interoperability with Facebook Marketing, Facebook Graph, Instagram Graph, Google DFP, Salesforce, etc.
More recently, I was the CTO and co-founder of a gaming startup. We raised over $6M and I was in charge of building out a team of over a dozen remote engineers and designers, with a breadth of experience ranging from Citibank, to Goldman Sachs, to Microsoft. I moved on, but retain significant equity and a board seat.
I am also a minority owner of a coffee shop in northern Spain. That I'm a top-tier developer goes without saying. I'm interested in flexing my consulting muscle and can help with best practices, architecture, and hiring.
Would love to connect even if it's just for networking!

I have dual skills: a degree in Computer Science and UI/UX design works featured in online galleries.
In the last 15 years I've been designing and developing websites and applications. From back-end to front-end, from architecture design to UI/UX design, on different stacks. I've built and managed front-end teams, shaped products.
Right now I focus on React and I can be helpful in a couple of ways:
- Building, guiding, leading React teams to produce high quality code even with junior developers
- Design Engineering: Building robust design systems, rapid prototyping new ideas or features, shaping product design, developer - designer communication
- React Software Architecture: Solving top pain points like code architecture and state management (https://2023.stateofjs.com/en-US/usage/#top_js_pain_points)
I prefer a part-time / fractional job because I run a research and development studio focusing on correct software: https://www.osequi.com/

12+ years as a platform engineer -> SRE at a number of top-tier startups or PaaS companies. Currently seeking my next senior or staff level SRE/DevOps/Platform Engineer position from Chicago or beyond!
A few projects I'm proudest of recently:
* Successfully planned & executed a six-month migration to EKS most recently at Sprout Social using custom-built pipelines which improved overall reliability and scalability for 150-ish microservices.
* Achieved a 75% reduction in AWS costs for the Moovweb (now Edgio/Akamai) Mobile Edge CDN by optimizing Node.js runtimes for use with Kubernetes.
* Helped develop two internal Go web apps used by the AWS EC2 CSET team to assist with enterprise client support engagements and dependencies.
* A couple years ago, I was instrumental in iteratively upgrading Hotel Tonight's core API backend from Ruby 1.8 to Ruby 2.3 with zero downtime, reducing endpoint response times by 45% and improving overall system performance.
Looking forward to hearing about any opportunities! Thanks!

I'm a back-end software engineer with full-stack experience. Looking forward to joining a fun and hardworking team.
I've just spent the last two years repairing the damage caused by 6 years of short term contractors coming in and tweaking things without specs and my team was able to get the system from causing customer-visible incidents almost twice a day to less than once a month.
If you're ok with me occasionally doing things like knocking 30 seconds off a CI pipeline's build time without a Jira ticket, please reach out to me.
Before that, at Ruckit, I was part of the founding team where we developed a collaborative logistics platform that scaled the company to over $2M in monthly revenue. I managed a distributed team of engineers, drove third-party integrations, and helped position the company for acquisition by Command Alkon.
Now it's time for something new. You can checkout my CV/resume linked above for lots more details, and please reach out with any interesting opportunities.

Having worked remotely throughout my professional life, I'm used to effectively collaborating with team members situated in different time zones and continents and like operating in these timezones: CET, GMT, EST

I have 6 years of experience, mostly back-end. Currently on the machine learning team at a startup where I have been building and maintaining LLM-based products in production, architected and implemented the platform code powering all of our LLM offerings, and functioned as tech lead for our main RAG system.
I have a very devopsy mindset, previous founder experience, and experience quickly building and iterating on MVPs from scratch. Ideally looking for somewhere I would be a very early engineer and get to set the direction, or somewhere where I could work in a non-Python, non-TypeScript language.

Very competitive pricing available for fast turnaround PHP / JS or Node projects. If you are looking to develop a new project, clean up/refactor an existing one or something else/different then please get in touch. Just as happy to work on legacy/vanilla PHP applications as Laravel apps, or to port from one to the other (or give opinions on feasibility of that for your project).
I like to work in a methodical way, typically writing simple tests for new functionality as I go, and also isolating any bugs/likely bug surface area. At the same time I also get satisfaction from "shipping". So it's important to me to achieve a harmonious balance between these, so expect this to be an area of focus in terms of communication. My technical interests are anything from simple CRUD/REST APIs through to integration of more advanced features, which could be real time application (Pusher/Websocket, possibly Reverb when this is released) or integration with ML models and pipelines.

Over the past decade, I founded and grew two companies, taking them from 0 to millions of users in over 100 countries. I've had to wear a lot of hats, including: full-stack software engineering, hiring and training developers, working with them for years, architecting systems, carrying out multi-year roadmaps, interfacing with clients, raising money, and so on. I tend to think deeply about the social and practical business implications of technology decisions. I probably deliver the most value in roles where I can help shape the technology solutions and make sure they achieve your business goals.

Info: I just graduated college with a computer science degree in December and am eagerly looking for work! I have web development and software development experience and plan to continue growing these skills. I have a very strong work ethic and am a self-driven learner. I am a strong believer in open source software and using technology to help others.
Since I just graduated, I'm looking for somewhere to get my foot in the door as a good "first job". Any suggestions for finding work or building connections would also be greatly appreciated. I have been on HN for years but figured I should create a separate account for this.
I have over 20 years in the industry starting out as a Linux SysAdmin / Network Engineer and now doing more Systems / Low level Programming, R&D, and occasional DevOps.
Looking for opportunities involving low level / embedded systems / backend software development. Happy to also do automation / SysAdmin / DevOps as well. Although not my forte, I like to do robust automated testing / QA for software to ensure they meet (potentially undocumented) requirements.

Experienced software engineer with a track record of building tools for ADAS applications in C++. Specializing in computer vision, I currently focus on AI Engineering, Deep learning research in LLMs, resource dependent learning, efficient and interpretable AI. I generally like to keep myself language agnostic, and am open to learning new technologies depending upon the problem being solved.
I was previously co-founder of a B2B data operations tool, Shipyard. Before that, I was the Head of Data at PMG Digital Agency where I built the team from the ground up. It's most important for me to work for a mission-driven company that wants to scale with bold and innovative approaches. I want to sink my teeth into tough problems and learn new things.
I'll do my best work focused on a mix of data, AI, and product. I can seamlessly adapt between IC or management roles and I prefer to have a decent amount of time hands on. Smaller organizations with the ability to build something from the ground up is a big plus. Despite my background, I'd like to avoid working in the advertising space.

Hello, I'm Matthew and I'm a professional dev looking for full or part time work. I'm a published mobile app developer and game (hobbyist) developer. Professionally, most of my work has been in mobile app development but I'm quite comfortable with backend and frontend web development. Looking for development work in really any kind of area as long as it's interesting.
Software engineer / M.Eng. / cloud architect / founder / VP over a ~20 year run, mainly in the US healthcare space with some education, finance, fitness, real estate, and ecommerce mixed in.
I've contributed in large organizations, developed teams in greenfield startups, and founded my own. I have a high attention to detail with a focus on user value, performance, data integrity, security, and tend to be the one that catches things others overlook. More recently I've successfully guided companies through healthcare compliance (SOC & HITRUST) both organizationally and technologically in addition to my roles in engineering leadership.
The ideal role for me would be solving difficult organizational/technical challenges that bring value to the real estate, energy, or healthcare space as an IC or leading a small team with an existing company, or jumpstarting/deploying into a new opportunity with a venture studio or small business.

About me: Almost 6 years in tech, including 4 years in software engineering and 3 in ML/AI engineering and research. My focus is on ML and Data Science, but I’m open to exploring other areas.
As a software engineer, I released a Python game on Steam with an Indonesian team and built tools to streamline their development, launched three sports betting websites for Odds Scanner (a Maltese startup focused on sports betting), and developed a C++ desktop app for particle physics using OpenMP for parallel processing.
As an ML Engineer, I worked at SCOR, creating a document classification model and backend solution. Currently, I’m a Computer Vision Engineer at AIST, Japan, where I developed a SOTA depth estimation model for panoramic images and contributed to a spherical SLAM solution. I’m also working on building a real-time pose estimation solution in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University.
I’m seeking a ML/software engineering role with growth potential and a stronger focus on engineering, aiming to advance to a senior position in the next few years. I excel as a generalist who adapts quickly to new challenges and requirements while offering specialist expertise in ML and software engineering.
If you think I’m a fit for your project, feel free to contact me!

Hi, I am a Full-Stack developer currently offering freelance services, looking to work with a startup or a company at a junior/mid-level role. I am an adaptable learner and like to work on and solve problems. I am currently exploring AI/ML domain and actively contributing on Kaggle.
My most proud contribution was in a startup I got hired by recently. It was an Enterprise LLM-based customer support service provider. I was hired as a frontend developer initially but had to step up and handle the backend as well in it's later stages. When I got to work in the AWS ecosystem, making lambda functions and setting up NLP workflows for fine-tuning the LLM without any prior experience, I realized that my most valuable skill is actually problem solving. And that tech stacks are just tools meant to solve the problems. The project was successfully delivered.
Do reach out to me if you need help in setting up a project. I'm also open to job opportunities (part time, contract, or full time).
Solving puzzles and pushing limits are my favorite. I implemented the Raft consensus algorithm in my free time using Rust. It can handle 20,000 QPS under ideal conditions.
Looking for interesting projects and team funding opportunities.

Hello! I'm a passionate software engineer looking to work in small & fast paced startups. I love taking ownership and writing code which creates impact. I'm okay working in EU/US timezones if needed.
Before transitioning into software engineering, I started my career in big 4 public accounting at EY, auditing major financial services firms and consulting on IT systems to ensure SOX compliance for IPO readiness[0]. These experiences taught me how companies waste millions fixing mistakes in their financial systems that could have been avoided with a software engineer who deeply understands accounting.
In my most recent role, I was the lead developer for the fintech team at a logistics company, where I built a scalable invoicing service that processed thousands of parcels per day. Within six months, I was promoted to lead engineer, managing two junior developers and designing the architecture for the next-generation service.
My unique blend of technical and accounting expertise enables me to translate complex US GAAP requirements into scalable, compliant software systems, helping growing companies avoid costly errors and stay ahead of their competitors.
I race cars for fun and have survived multiple accounting busy seasons, so I thrive under pressure. I hold a master's degree and passed all four sections of the CPA exam on my first attempt (8% pass rate), so I also know how to tackle tough challenges.
No one has ever been fired for hiring a CPA to work on accounting-related problems. Accounting is complicated, and you don't have the time to teach another software engineer 10+ years of formal study and experience. Don't overthink it! Let's talk about how I can improve your company's financial systems and make your life easier to focus on earning more money.

I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.
Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.
Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.
I'm currently a backend engineer developing features and improving infra for an online game with millions of daily active users. I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other tech-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.
While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I am also open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.
In addition, I want to use part of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.
I would love to work on 'meta-creativity' tools. That is, I enjoy the idea of making 'bespoke CAD tools' to help people who build things do it effectively with their computers as a primary tool for design.

Been on both sides of that fence and know what it takes at each stage.

I'm a software developer / engineering manager with a bottom-up, collaborative style, focused on building and supporting resilient, empathetic, business-aware engineering teams who love what they do. I've worked in software since ~2011 and have worked hands-on with many tech stacks during that time- from PHP to Scala and Next.js to Rails. I've been fully remote since 2016 and have hired and managed globally remote team members at multiple companies.
I've worked both hands-on and as a manager and have excelled in both types of role. I'm open to either type or a mix of both depending on the needs of the team/business.
My approach on the management side centers on 1:1s, transparent retros, and fostering a deep understanding of the business purpose behind the work we do.
On the dev side, I prefer buying over building, readable over concise, fast over perfect, and empathy over all.
Over the holidays I built a Rails application that analyzes satellite imagery along US coastlines to identify potential boat anchorages. It works by taking geographic coordinates, fetching satellite images from Google Maps, and using machine learning to classify areas as suitable anchorages, with a built-in interface for training the ML model with new data.

About: Making software for 35+ years.. Seen quite some things and places.. and attitudes. Been bottom to top, wearing many hats, always hands-on. Have my own python course, coding style, some open-source stuff, and even opinions on things.
Principal or Staff engineer, Architect, CTO, co-founder, team lead.. or very senior programmer. Most interested in Mentoring team/s - newbies or not - as a playing trainer, within the team and the project/work, Or consulting / advising, how to do things better. Or just interesting work with interesting people. Anyway will still code things.. But no cheating.
IMO The interesting part of making software, is the people, while technicals.. are solvable. i can guide people how to _think_ _correctly_. While building something good, together.
Probably i will ruin quite some illusions.. because in software making, what's doable, sellable, wanted, and needed, rarely overlap.. But when they do, the dream comes true. Let's find it.
May relocate anywhere to stay with the team, as IMO "remote" does not work for any knowledge-or-culture -building activities.
Have fun

I am a generalist with a very broad set of experience, with expertise in system's programming using strongly typed languages. I've done everything from bare-metal assembly code, to FPGA gateware, to Linux kernel modules, to Windows GUI work, to front-end web development. Very "T shaped".
I'm also a seasoned public speaker, having given talks at various conferences including NetworkX, prpl Summit, and SCTE Expo. Quite happy giving customer-facing demos, too.
My ideal role is where software is the product, and I can leverage my expertise in high-performance, resource-critical environments that value deep systems knowledge.

I’m a design-minded software engineer with 13 years of experience as a fullstack web developer. My specialty is frontends with novel UX, heavy interactivity, real-time updates, and high performance. I enjoy prototyping, architecting high quality maintainable systems, creating custom dev tools, and technical writing. I like the workhorse role and I’m open to being a lead.
I have a lot of experience with open source, and I recently dipped a toe into technical video creation and blogging. I’ve also been integrating AI more in my workflows - in 2024, I experienced LLMs reaching the threshold needed to increase my coding productivity without losing quality for many kinds of problems.
I'm not actively searching for work, so for example I’m not looking for non-Svelte frontend roles, but I would jump at the right opportunity. Please reach out if you think I could be a good fit!

Before that, I completed my PhD in HRI (Human-Robot Interaction) at the University of Oxford, in conjunction with the University of Canterbury, where I focused on the persuasive power of voice agents. My favorite working environments are early-stage startups with high growth potential.
Recently, with the release of the OpenAI real-time API, my interest in VUI (Voice User Interface) was reignited. I really love the VUI paradigm and strongly believe it will be the next big change in the way we communicate with computers.
Here is a project I built during the winter holiday: https://www.callgeist.com. I used almost exclusively Cursor for the UI. The backend uses Twilio + OpenAI real-time.

These are pretty generic skills but my strength is depth of understanding computer science. I have demonstrated the ability to architect elegant systems in unfamiliar areas (like compilers and dev tools), dig into undocumented libraries and troubleshoot complex technical issues. I would be interested in work that involves computer science / engineering challenge rather than day-to-day CRUD / ops.

Résumé/CV/Email: see HN profile for LinkedIn
I love solving hard mathematical problems that hide in plain sight as business problems. I believe that the end goal of data engineering is mathematical business optimization. My favorite problems that I've worked on solving:
* Optimization of manufacturing plant scheduling, with major tradeoffs in batch throughput vs equipment changeover, featuring unstable demand with long planning horizons, and raw materials shortages.
* Logistics optimization of inventory placement and movement in national distribution systems, designed to adapt to a large number of constraints and processing costs in a fast-fulfillment, short-lead time, continuous-planning system.
* FCC Auction bid optimization to determine how to properly value various auctionable licenses relative to others in the context of how they complement the existing license portfolio as well as close gaps in spectrum availability.
* Cellular site location optimization, including the possibility of modifying or decommissioning existing sites, to optimize coverage, throughput, and reliability of the network. Included in this is a massive geospatial data problem, involving data models of variable human movement patterns, constantly evolving physical environment data, and data models tailored for multi-objective optimization.
Currently employed, with intense side projects, mostly happy with my current job, but always willing to entertain different employers. The best way to capture my attention is to lead with a description of a difficult problem that you're trying to solve.
If you need help with specific technical projects, or are looking for management roles please feel free to reach out. I'm very familiar with both the unique challenges of scaling up startups as well as working to innovate in large enterprise companies.
Specifically if you need help productizing and scaling out various AI/Machine Learning/LLM systems this would be a good fit.

Hi. I'm Craig. I'm an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Systems Architect and Microsoft Certified Professional with a passion for software development.
I work primarily, but not exclusively, with Microsoft technologies and the .NET / .NET Core frameworks, leading complex and challenging enterprise software development projects to successfully deliver robust, secure, scalable and efficient software solutions, encompassing over 20 years of experience in the field.
An accomplished team leader, mentor and architect, I'm skilled at taking a leading role in the overall architecture of a project, in driving team developments and employing proven industry disciplines and best-practices to deliver successful software projects that frequently exceed client expectations.
I'm passionate about distributed systems design, CQRS and event sourcing and a proponent of domain-driven design to ensure that solutions are laser-focused on solving real business problems. I'm an open source enthusiast and advocate using the best and most appropriate tools available, providing for an effective and pragmatic solution that delivers genuine and quantifiable business value.
Throughout my career I've helped numerous businesses of varying sizes in varying industries get their technology investment right and I can do the same for you.
Recent projects include:
+ Architected and executed a comprehensive overhaul of a core legacy system, migrating it to a robust microservices architecture. By strategically applying Domain-Driven Design, CQRS, and Event Sourcing, we enabled a prominent African FinTech company to seamlessly scale from 1 million to 10 million active users while achieving a remarkable 30%+ reduction in cloud expenses.
+ Successfully delivered an ambitious project to re-engineer a number of monolithic applications to cloud-native, event-driven distributed services for a leading hospitality software provider as part of a company-wide effort to modernise their entire software estate including training and mentoring staff on event-driven architecture and distributed system design.
+ Designed & delivered a large, global SaaS product to manage and automate music royalty collection and payment for one of the UK's largest and most demanding independent music publishers including full cloud geo-distribution & redundancy to ensure high availability & reliability for the worldwide client base.
+ Spearheaded the creation of a groundbreaking anti-motor fraud solution for a prominent UK law firm. This industry-leading platform combined a user-friendly web application, powerful API, and sophisticated data systems, including Europe's largest anti-fraud database, giving the firm an edge in fraud detection.
General professional background: primarily self taught, through a tinkering habit;[1] spent several years doing various tech ops work, ranging from restaurants to SaaS, before eventually jumping to frontend dev at the latter. Worked in FE-leaning full-stack roles in a couple different fintech companies, but that's more luck of the draw and less any particular attraction to that industry. (I'd like to work in something else, but it's not a hard line.)
Current side project is to automate the act of doomscrolling job boards.[2] I've been building a Tinder clone in my spare time around the results, albeit repeatedly rabbit-holed into various escapades around upstream PRs and efforts to evade bot detection methods.
Other things I tinker with include Llamafile, IoT, creative code,[3] and the occasional CTF puzzle. Areas of curiosity that are not in my background include things like cybersecurity, infra, and eCommerce.
Hard no's: Crypto, military contractors, Amazon, anything owned or operated by Elon Musk.

Technologies: 10 years of professional experience, working primarily in full-stack web development. I work daily in Python, FastAPI, Ruby, Rails, Sinatra, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, MacOS, Docker, AWS (EC2, RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, IAM), Git. I'm familiar (Use most months) with ElasticSearch, CloudSearch, Tailwind, Vue. As Hobbies, or smaller projects (used on at least one completed project over the past five years): Go, Zig, C, C++, Rust, Phoenix, NoSQL, MongoDB, (probably more, but these were the ones that came to mind.)
My day job has me performing two main functions:
- Building full stack web development systems. I generally lean more towards writing backend code, and documenting our infrastructure. UI is my weakest area. This role has me working in datasets with ~1 billion row tables, and search indexes with ~100 million documents. Since we're a small company (~8 developers), I have been a major part of the architecture of our systems over the past 8 years. We've got five separate core businesses that our dev team supports, and I've been a part of architecting and implementing all of them. I would prefer to focus more on backend development in a future role.
- Creating one-off scripts or processes to assist in business functions. These tend to involve quickly reverse engineering undocumented web APIs we have permission to use, and querying them for our customers. At their simplest, these are a mix of writing some SQL and a few HTTP requests. At their most complicated, they have involved designing and implementing a tree structure to accurately model the business domain, and then pulling data about these structures from relevant public APIs.
- Miscellaneous tasks as they come up, recently, I reduced the cost of a company's AWS CloudSearch spend by 80% (over 10k/month) by reviewing their codebase, doing some research, and improving what they were storing and how they were doing so. This required a one-line code change on the existing codebase, and writing a new, short (~500 line) indexer. Doing a deep dive into the single highest AWS line item was the impetus for the project, and frankly, it turned out far better than expected. Outside of work, I ran https://www.thiswebsitewillselfdestruct.com, a website I built and maintain. It really will self-destruct, and it reaches ~100k users and handles ~13M requests each month. Building tools and infrastructure to manage its moderation and keep it a positive community has been a huge learning experience.

I have around 9 years of experience and I have worked in variety of domain which includes: Car pooling, personalised styling, web security, banking construction etc. Recently, I wrote a batch script-based automation tool for my current company, saving 15-30 minutes of team members on a daily basis across two different projects. I have worked multiple startups and even hired the whole team at two of them. Besides that, have also worked with big orgs (CMMI Level 5).

Happy new years! A colleague and I lost out on a large optimization project (network scheduling during cascading failures) with an airline and I'm now looking for work. My ideal is a small/medium company where I can do no BS data science - ML, AI, and OR are my jam.
I've worked on projects including large language models, knowledge extraction, and the usual ML stuff - failure prediction, translation, maintenance optimization, automated sports highlights, and more. I've also done some more interesting work including vehicle route planning in constrained environments.
I love avant garde problems, and have a pretty unique toolset (LLMs+KB, OR+ML, etc). I've worked with names you know in tech, automotive, and other spaces.
The perfect fit is a small/medium sized company with a hair on fire green or brownfield problem that needs solving. I'm available immediately, and champing at the bit. Even if you're unsure, get in touch. Email in profile.

In early 2024, I became a victim of a fraudulent online trading platform that drained my account of GBP 50,000. As the Marketing Director at Greenfield Marketing Agency in Manchester, I thought I had a strong understanding of online risks, particularly when it came to financial transactions and digital security. However, this scam caught me completely off guard. Despite my expertise, I found myself in a situation I could never have anticipated, and I was devastated. I didn't know where to turn or how to recover the lost funds, and the emotional toll was overwhelming. After researching different recovery options, I came across Asset Rescue Specialist. From the very first interaction, their team demonstrated professionalism and empathy. They took the time to explain the entire recovery process in detail, ensuring I understood each step before moving forward. It was clear that they were committed to helping clients like me navigate this difficult situation with transparency and care. One of the most reassuring aspects of working with Asset Rescue Specialist was their constant communication. They provided regular updates on the progress of the case, which helped ease my anxiety. I never felt left in the dark, and I could always reach out with questions or concerns. Their team was highly responsive and patient, taking the time to address any doubts I had. Remarkably, within just 14 days, Asset Rescue Specialist was able to recover GBP 45,000 of my lost funds. While I didn't get the full amount back, the recovery of such a significant portion of my money was a huge relief. The speed and efficiency with which they handled my case were impressive, and it exceeded my expectations. The entire process was transparent from start to finish, and I felt like I was in capable hands the entire time. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for the dedication and expertise of the Wizard Web Recovery team. Their compassionate approach made a challenging and emotionally taxing situation much more manageable. I would wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone who has fallen victim to online scams or fraud.
